Brian Corbell Sr. specializes in real estate acquisition, workouts, disposition, refinancing, and in some cases, direct management of REO assets. This has included the acquisition, development and operation of hotels and resorts, and the acquisition and workout of loan assets from the FDIC and the RTC and REO assets from lending institutions.
Over the last 40-years Mr. Corbell has acquired, developed and operated hotel and resort properties across the country for major companies, financial institutions and for investment groups. His work has included the development of large real estate and resort projects, the turnaround, management and disposition of hotels and other real estate assets, and the operation of companies with hotels ranging in size from 60 to 2,000 rooms, and on-sites in primary cities or resorts or in developments of up to 5,000 acres.
Mr. Corbell has been engaged in all aspects of the acquisition of REO assets directly from lenders and the acquisition of loan packages from the FDIC and the RTC, managing their subsequent workouts through negotiation or takeover through foreclosure and Bankruptcy.
Mr. Corbell has a B.S. in Business from the University of California at Berkeley and a J.D. from the University of Southern California School of Law.
Wolter Mehring specializes in acquisitions, executing construction renovations and asset management of hotel assets, as well as in the operation of real estate related service businesses. His 25 years of experience covers a number of states and multiple projects. In addition to working directly to execute hotel repositioning business plans, Mr. Mehring’s financial background includes the origination, structuring, negotiating and risk-management of banking and business transactions. He has experience in various industries including real estate for Crocker Bank, Union Bank and Commerzbank AG in the U.S. and Europe. While living in Germany, he was responsible for managing and overseeing a multi-billion dollar portfolio consisting of all financing extended to clients located in Northern and Eastern Europe for Commerzbank AG.
Mr. Mehring has a B.A. in Business Administration from Principia College and an M.B.A. from Pepperdine University.
Maurice Destouet specializes in entitlements, construction management and legal aspects of real estate operations. Destouet brings 30-years of experience, both in the business and legal aspects of hotel and real estate ownership, construction and re-development, and on operating businesses. Mr. Destouet’s background includes on-site management of construction and renovation from planning, bidding and scheduling of construction projects, to business management of operating businesses. His work has included assignments in various states, in principal cities, suburban and resort locations across the U.S.
Mr. Destouet has been directly involved in obtaining and protecting entitlements through negotiation and through building support from various interest groups, and has worked with legislators and various departments of state, county and city governments, as well as neighborhood and condominium groups.
Mr. Destouet has a B.A. from Stanford University and a J.D. from the University of Southern California School Of Law.
Robert Zonitch specializes in the direct operation and management of hotels, resorts and related service businesses. For his entire 35 year career, Mr. Zonitch operated hotels and resorts, including managing hotels for Loews Hotels / Americana Hotels in New York City, such as the 1,800 room Loews Americana (now the Sheraton Hotel & Towers).
Subsequently, he was the General Manager of hotels in California and Regional Vice President for Hotel Systems International where he was responsible for overseeing ten of the hotels on both coasts and Texas, including 760 room and 500 room convention hotels. He has also overseen small resort area properties. He is adept at hotel turn-arounds as well as continuing operations management.
Mr. Zonitch has also been directly involved with restaurant development and repositioning and the development and operation of other operating businesses.
Mr. Zonitch has an accounting degree from Albany Business College and served in the U.S. Army from 1962 to 1965, serving in Berlin during the Berlin Crisis.
Mr. Smith has over 30 years experience in the acquisition, development and financing of real estate projects ranging from retail properties to hotel assets to industrial properties. His experience includes the acquisition of secured note assets from institutions and their workout through structured negotiation, foreclosure and chapter proceedings.
He has served as Chief Financial Officer for a large real estate holding company, as a financial and development officer for Hotel Systems International and companies engaged in the business of hotel acquisition, hotel management and the workout of hotels for financial institutions. Prior to that, he was a financial vice president for Stouffer Hotels. Mr. Smith has a B.S. from Brigham Young University and an M.B.A. from Harvard University.
Brian Corbell Jr. specializes in real estate acquisition, workouts and asset management. He is experienced in the underwriting, acquisition, asset management and disposition of hard real estate assets and commercial loans, as well as workout negotiations and REO management and liquidation.
Mr. Corbell has been directly responsible for the acquisition of over $400 million in office, retail and residential assets in the U.S. and in Japan, where he was a principal in joint venture transactions with U.S. and overseas institutional investors. He is fluent in Japanese. Mr. Corbell has also asset managed over $1.5 billion of office, retail, residential and industrial hard assets and loans throughout the United States.
He is familiar with the unique requirements of lenders, borrowers, and developers. As an asset manager for a major U.S. lender he has taken properties through the REO and foreclosure process. As a consultant he has been instrumental in negotiating on behalf of borrowers to gain release from personal guarantees and retain control of properties.
Mr. Corbell holds a B.A. in Business Economics from the University of California at Santa Barbara and holds a California Real Estate Broker License.
